History of CTES
Along General Flaviano Yengco Street is another school in the District of Imus I. It was previously named as Western Poblacion Elementary School. Municipal Resolution 110, 20 s. 1975 resolved the change of Western Poblacion Elementary School to Cayetano Topacio Elementary School. This was approved on June 11, 1974. It was named after Captain Cayetano Topacio, a civic and spirited citizen of Imus who lived a life so dedicated to the welfare of Imus Elementary School children.
Once a part of the old Imus Elementary School, the Western Poblacion Elementary School was separated from it in the school year 1964-1965. It is housed in the same site of the former Imus Intermediate School. Its annexes were in the second floor of the Masonic Temple located at the back of the town plaza’s stage.
The first principal of the Western Poblacion Elementary School was Mrs. Francisca S. Carreon, from June 1964 to November 10, 1968. Her accomplishments were 1. Construction of the fence fronting the school which was donated by Mrs. Jacoba T. Paterno (1964-1965): 2. Stage (1965-1966): 3. Drinking fountain (1966-1967): 4. PTA Building (1967-1969): 5. And a part of the H.E Building (1968).
Upon the retirement of Mrs. Francisca Carreon, Mrs. Florentina R. Topacio took over as Teacher – in – Charge from December 1, 1968 to July 31, 1969. She had the Home Economics Building finished and the Pre-fabricated Building I was constructed in 1969.
Mrs. Carmen S. Ramirez served as Teacher-in-Charge from August 1, 1969 to June 1971. And then as principal until June 2, 1973. She completed the following projects: 1 Teachers’ comfort room as project of the school teachers’ club (1969-1970): 2. Pre-fabricated Building II (1969-1970): 3. Cemented pathway, a donation of class 31 (1970-1971) 4. Additional playground apparatus with class 34 as donor (1972-1973).
Mrs. Florentina R. Topacio came back as principal on June 3, 1973. She undertook the following projects: 1. Covering the canal beside General Flaviano Yengco Street (1975-1976). 2. South gate which was replaced by the same donor class 1936 (1975-1976): 3. North gate, a donation of class 1934 (1075-1976): 4. Artesian well (1975-1976): 5. Improvement of the boys’ comfort room which was undertaken by the Homeroom PTA of Grade V-Dove.
Upon the retirement of Mrs. Florentina R. Topacio, Mrs. Amelia S. Ramirez took over. She was able to raise funds through the help of PTA for the extension of the Home Economics building. Mrs. Amelia S. Ramirez had her leave for two years and her absence, Mrs. Lilia R. Gumapas, Mrs. Normita C. Martinez and Mrs. Editha S. Regalado respectively, acted as Teacher-in-Charge of the school.
Then came Mrs. Normita C. Martinez who took charge of the 16 teachers and 500 pupils of the school. She assumed the principal ship since school year 1993-1994 upon the retirement of Mrs. Amelia S. Ramirez. The following school improvements were accomplished. School Year 1993-1994 1. Repainting of some classrooms through canteen fund: 2. Acquisition of H.E. equipment – canteen fund and FHP donation, School Year 1994-1995. 1. Repainting of some classrooms and school building: 2. Landscaping of H.E. grounds 3. Reconstruction of drinking fountain donated by COCOBANK: 4. Reconstruction and painting of plant boxes: 5. Reconstruction of pathways: 6. Fencing the Science garden: 7. Replacement of G.I. sheets and gutters (roof): 8. Setting of balusters and flagpole base and front phase of Grade VI building: 9. Construction of additional pathways and completion of Grade VI toilet.
When Mrs. Normita C. Martinez, transferred to the other school, Mrs. Leila R. Topacio took over as a new principal of Cayetano Topacio Elementary School. She accomplished the following projects: 1. Roof of grade II classrooms 2. The improvement of guidance and clinic 3. Reconstruction of H.E. building 4. Cementing the pathways along grade I and grade II buildings 5. Concreting of perimeter fence in entire school compound 6. Construction of feeding center 7. Renovation of the Gabaldon building with a conference hall 8. Cementing and widening of pathway infront of H.E. building 9. Putting up of 2 artesian wells, 10. Construction of balusters infront of grade V rooms 11. Construction of toilet and kitchen in the office.
After 4 years of the reign of Mrs. Leila Topacio. Mrs. Letecia S. LAmano became our new principal. During her administration, she accomplished the following 1. Construction of Math room. 2. Beautification of the math garden. 3. Reconstruction of Gabaldon building 4. Re-roofing of grade III building 5. Landscaping of the H. E. in front of the H.E. building 6. Installation on water pump near the canteen.
After 3 years, Mrs. Letecia S. Lamano was promoted as principal II so her husband Mr. Ruperto M. Lamano took her place as a principal in our school. He stayed for almost 1 year and his accomplishment were 1. Renovation of the LSB building through the effort of Meralco Foundation. 2. The school acquired 5 computers through the generosity of Korean – Taiwanese Nationals. Last August 1, 2007, Mr. Ruperto M. Lamano retired from the service and migrated to Canada.
Mrs. Cristina M. Ben assumed the office after of Mr. Lamano. Initial to her accomplishments are: 1. Repair of Ceiling and roof of classrooms, 2. Repainting of all the comfort rooms. 3. Acquisition of an LCD projector for ICT integration. 4. Construction of 2 classrooms. 5. Renovation of school canteen and home economics building 6. Putting up of Hardin ng mga Bayani mural, English Garden, Gulayan sa Paaralan mural and CFSS wall painting.7. fencing and improvement of school science and vegetable garden and 8. Construction of a hand washing facility. Included also in her accomplishments are organization of MTAP Computer class and Pre-School classes. Repair of the Principal’s Office, Guidance and Kinder room. Construction of Math garden and rehabilitation of Math LRC. Construction of the school waiting shed and purchase of audio visual equipment in every classrooms.
Mrs. Ma. Fe A. King is the principal of the school. She assumed her office on July 3, 2013 after Mrs. Ben’s promotion as principal II Bacoor District. The following are the physical improvement of the school namely: 1. Construction of 2 storey classrooms BEFF ( Basic Educational Facilities Fund-DepEd) building 2. PAGCOR building 2 storey 4 classrooms) 3. Construction of covered court with stage thru LGU (Mayor Maliksi) 4. Construction of perimeter fence from provincial government ( Gov. Jonvic Remulla) 5. Convertion of science room to E-classrooms, 6. Tilling of school canteen. 7. Construction of main entrance gate of the school. 8. Construction of 2 comfort rooms with washing area. 9. The ongoing of Modular 2 storey 4 classrooms as replacement for the former H. E. room. 10. DCP – complete package (DepEd Computerization Program) First kindergarten national teacher was added and 2 new additional teachers primary and intermediate grades.
As part of the school’s history CTES belonged to district of Imus II on June 24, 2013 after the approval of districting of Division of Imus City, however the districting were dissolved due to RAPTLAN. This SY 2014-2015 two extension teachers were added namely: Mr. ian Kenneth M. Balinas and Ms. Cherry B. Untalan. It is another blessing to the school to received additional 2 storey 4 classrooms modular funded by the provincial government under Governor Jonvic Remulla. Cemented school ground and to be constructed loading and unloading area funded by CTES alumnus and city councilor Dennis Lacson and a waiting shed from GPTA SY 2013-2014 fund.
Mrs. Maria Luisa F. Candelaria is the newest school principal and she is still continuing the progress and improvement of beloved Alma Matter Cayetano Topacio Elementary School.
